as soon as possible after his arrival in the Colony. this I mentioned that in the most recent telegram which I had seen from Hong Kong the suggestion was made that it might be useful if, before he, Mr Mase, proceeded to Hong Kong, his local representative there should discuss with the Hong Kong Government the possibilities of the alterna- tive procedure of the preventive service organised by the Colony. He said that whilst he was quite ready to agree to this, he did not think anything very useful would come out of it; to which I observed that it could at least do
no harm to explore it.
Finally, it was decided that we would have another talk at 9.15 to-morrow morning, when Mr Maze would bring Mr Wright with him in case he should wish to refer to his dossier, and that I should have Er Teichman for the same
purpose.
